INFORMATION ABOUT THE GLITTERBIRD SEMINAR AND FESTIVAL IN BUDAPEST FROM THE 28TH-30TH OF OCTOBER 2005


1.            LOCATIONS

The location of the festival and seminar

It is in the building of Kolibri Theatre (Kolibri Színház), located in district VI. (centre) of the Pest side of the capital.

Here you can find the Festival Office, which works as a reception and information centre. This is also where the performances and the seminars (including the presentation of the groups) will be. The festival and the seminar will be on the stage and auditorium of the theatre. All official participants, Hungarian and foreign guests will be seated in the auditorium (capacity for 140-150 persons).

2.            ARRIVAL

Of the participants, 59 persons will arrive at the Budapest-Ferihegy Airport which has three terminals:

- Ferihegy 1. (nearer to the city, 15 km)

- Ferihegy 2/A. és 2/B. (20 km from the city)

In the entrance hall of the terminals you can find the desks of the Airport Minibus Service which will take everyone to the hotel. At the desk everyone should tell their name and everyone will receive a return ticket. You will not have to pay for the tickets, the Kolibri Theatre has made a contract with the company. Please keep the tickets for the return trip. For the departure, the buses will pick you up 3 hours before the departure of your plane in front of the hotel.

One person will arrive by car.

 

3.            FESTIVAL OFFICE

All participants and guests can get information and help in the Festival Office, in the entrance of the theatre.  Here you will pick up your prepaid welcome package, or you will have the possibility to buy one (payment in € only). This is also where you pick up your vouchers for the meals.

The Festival Office will be open the 27-30th of October from 9.00 a.m. until 21 p.m.

 

4.            ACCOMMODATION

The participants will stay in three different hotels in the centre, in the required rooms, in the following way:

The Hotel is located next to the theatre.

The nearest guarded parking place is in Aradi u. 8.  The price for one hour is 240 HUF, for one day: 6.000 HUF. The parking price on the street (without guarding) is 220 HUF/hour.

From Kolibri Theatre: with tram number 4 or 6 in direction to Moszkva tér (get on at Oktogon, get off at Moszkva tér-last stop), take tram number 59 go till last stop: Farkasréti tér, short walk on Hóvirág street till Arató street.

 

5.            FESTIVAL OFFICE

All participants and guests can get information and help in the Festival Office, in the entrance of the theatre. Here everybody will receive a welcome package. This contains:  a programme book, a badge, a t-shirt, a CD and 12 travel tickets.  

Opening hours:

The Festival Office will be open between the 23 – 26th October from 6.30 – 8.00 a.m., on the 23rd from 5.30 a.m and in the period from the 27-30th of October from 9.00 a.m. till 21 p.m.

 

6.            PERFORMANCES ON STAGE

8 groups will have a performance on stage during the festival. 

Previously we have explained the performance space on stage which has been accepted by the groups. This means that the performance will be on the enlarged stage and the audience (20 babies and 20 adults) will be sitting on the stage. All other participants and guests will see the performance from the auditorium. The performances will be recorded with three cameras. The performances will be projected on a big screen in the auditorium area and in the entrance hall of the theatre so that everyone can follow all happenings on stage.

All performing groups will have time for rehearsal. The technical requirements will be provided by the theatre’s technicians – as specified in the previously sent technical riders.

The coordinator of the rehearsals, performances, open and closed seminars will be Éva Pánti. The theatre’s staff and translators will help the companies’ work.

 

TRANSLATION

The translators for each group will be the followings:

On the open seminars there will be English and French simultaneous translators.

On the closed seminars there will also be simultaneous translation of the presentations.

7.            MEALS

The breakfast will be served in the hotel for everyone. In the coffee breaks there will be coffee, snacks, fruits, mineral water.

The lunch and dinners will be served in Kaltenberg Restaurant.

How to get there:
From Kolibri Theatre: tram number 4 or 6 (get on at Oktogon and get off at Üllo˝i út). This will be about 15 minutes journey, then a short walk. 

There will be three kinds of menus:
1.            Hungarian style
2.            Soft meal
3.            Vegetarian meal

We will send the menu to all countries and we would like everyone to tell us at the arrival which menu types you prefer.

 

8.            RECEPTION

János Schiffer, deputy mayor of Budapest will organise a reception for the participants of the Glitterbird programme the 28th of October, at 18:00 p.m, in the City Hall. It will end at 20:00 p.m, as foreseen.

9. KOLIBRI PINCE

This is a small theatre hall of Kolibri Theatre where the theatre usually has own shows or invited performances for 40-45 spectators. During the festival-seminar it will be open for the participants from 17-22 p.m. Any artist is free to perform, play music etc. for the others. There is also a small coffee-tea bar inside with low prices, and with a 10% discount for the Glitterbird participants.

Two stops by metro M1 (yellow line) getting on at Oktogon, getting off at Vörösmarty utca. Or walking on Andrássy út towards Hősök tere (Heroe’s square)
