Cometh thunder and red light

Cometh Thunder and Red Light

The initial challenge is the relationship between the Work (of Art) and its Creator (Artist) as described in a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, ”The Masque of the Red Death” as well as in ”Dr. Frankenstein” by Mary Shelly. The music by J. S. Bach with its perfection of tonality, hierarchical structure, and composition is used as a filter and explored in relation to 20th century movement mannerisms.

The ground material of the piece are solos choreographed in a working relationship with poet Erling Kittelsen who writes a poem to each solo in a soundspace of J. S. Bachs preludes. In the finished work the direct video transmittance and film - and photo work by John Alfheim and Klara Sund is a dynamic visual partner.
